About Empiric Systems

Empiric Systems, LLC^*  was formed in 2001 by founding members Mark Janas, BSRT, MBA and Peter Gratale, BSRT, respective owners of a radiology IT consulting firm and an imaging center enterprise.  Their goal was to address a void in the radiology marketplace....that void being the lack of an integrated, cost-effective, RIS/PACS solution for small hospitals and free-standing imaging centers.

Using the combined decades of radiology management and IT experience of the founding members, the company's first web-based radiology information system was built and deployed at a 6-site practice in 2001. The company and its products have continued to evolve in the ensuing years. Empiric Systems' products are now used in 250+ medical imaging facilities throughout the United States.

Since the inception of the initial RIS product, many new functions and modules have been added (most based directly on client requests), further adding value for Empiric customers and eliminating reliance on complex, inefficient multi-vendor solutions. In 2005, Empiric Systems was the first to market with a fully integrated, web-based RIS/PACS/billing system based on Microsoft's latest .NET platform (Encompass.NET).

*'Empiric is derived from the Greek root meaning 'with knowledge'.
